David Estrella is President and
Gerald Rubino is Vice President. Shop Committee members are Anthony
Piermont, William Santos and Paul Turgeon.
The October 2015 election resulted in Paul Turgeon in the first seat with a three way tie between Anthony Piermont, Al
Soares, and William Santos for the remaining two Shop Committee positions.
Decembers runoff election resulted in William Santos and Anthony Piermont
completing the shop committee. Al Soares is first alternate. Isau Adebimpe
is Recording Secretary, Eric Camara is Conductor-Sentinel and
Paul Turgeon is Secretary- Treasurer. Everett Corey is our Business Agent.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Paul Turgeon was not able to fulfill his
duties as Shop Committee member and resigned from the position in February
of this year. Alberico Soares filled the shop committee vacancy. Congratulations go out to the Local 587 negotiating committee
which includes District 26 District Business Representative Everett Corey,
President David Estrella, Vice President Gerald Rubino and Shop Committee
Members Anthony Piermont, William Santos, and Alberico Soares. The three-year contract effective February 27, 2016 through February 23, 2019, saw increases in wages of 2.5%, 2.75%
and 3% for the three year period, an increase of $3 for the legacy pension plan,
increased Shift Premiums, and Health and Wellness cash payments of $750
through 2018. The ratification took place at the Green Valley Country Club
in Portsmouth, RI and was well attended. Of the 79 voters, 66 voted to
accept, and 13 voted to reject the proposed changes The previous contract was in
effect from March 3, 2012 through February 27, 2016. |
