In 1997, Tony Piermont was President and John D' Alessio was Vice President. Shop Committee members David Estrella, Angelo Latini and Dennis Barker completed the Negotiating Committee. David Kay was Recording Secretary and Angelo Latini was Secretary Treasurer. John R. Capobianco was our Business Agent.

After a 14.2% pay-cut in 1994 and two subsequent years of no raises, the company's firm offer of a 2.0% raise was not considered appropriate by the members of the local. According to Brother Ed Ferreira, "Everybody was saying 'how come not 2.2.' They got back to that point two, you know."

The company did eventually budge and the result was 3%  for this year per the contract, dated March 1, 1997.

This was the last year for negotiations with John "Cappy" Capobianco who retired shortly thereafter.
