The
History Committee |

Michael Catalano, born Bristol, RI joined Local
587 in 1978 as a production worker assigned to the Machine Shop. He has been
on the History Committee since 2003. |

Paul Turgeon came to Local 587 in 1979 and
works as an Systems Tester. He also has a background in Audio/Video
production. He has been on the History Committee since 2003. |

Ed Ferreira, born and raised on Aquidneck Island, was working for Raytheon
for four years before Local 587 was formed. Ed, an Electronic Tester, was
very active in the union throughout his 40 years of service as Shop
Committee and Chief Steward before retiring in 2002. |

Angelo
Latini, Born in New York City, worked at
Raytheon in Massachusetts before coming to Local 587 in 1973. Angelo was
very active in the union, holding the positions of President, Vice President,
Secretary-Treasurer, Shop Committee, and
is still active post-retirement as Trustee for the Local as well as for
District 26. |

Francis Winthrop, born and raised in Newport
RI, worked at Raytheon when local 587 was voted in. He is currently the
most senior union member in the local, and has held positions as Production
Helper, Chromate Engineer and Sheet Metal Fabricator. He is currently the
Steward for the Machine Shop. |

Ron Raposa joined Local 587 in 1966 and served
as president of the local in 1969. After a tumultuous year in office, he did
not seek reelection. He received a promotion to company technician two years
later and after several more years with Raytheon, left to become a
firefighter in Fall River, MA. |
